Weather in Cairns

Cairns has a tropical rainforest climate featuring hot, humid summers and mild, dry winters.
The average temperature is between 17℃ to 31℃. You are able to swim in the Great Barrier Reef nearly all year round, however, there is stinger/jellyfish season from November until May.
f you travel to the Great Barrier Reef, it is sensible to wear the Lycra & Stinger Suits. Most tour operators will supply these suits. Please do not forget to check UV Index prediction and protect yourself by applying sun-screen and wearing sunglasses and a hat.

Airport Information

There are two terminals at the Cairns airport, T1 (International Terminal) and T2 (Domestic Terminal) connected by a covered walkway.
Transfer time is approx. 5-7 minutes.
Cairns Airport is located just ten minutes from Cairns city center by Taxi or Shuttle bus.

Accommodation

The most convenient area is between the Cairns Station to the Reef Fleet Terminal and the esplanade side of Cairns esplanade. 
There are different types of accommodation such as family friendly apartments, backpackers or luxury 5 star hotels.

Reef Fleet Terminal

Cairns Reef Fleet Terminal is the main terminal of Great Barrier Reef tours.

Cairns Station

The Kuranda train departs from Cairns Station at 8:30am and 9:30 am daily.
It is located in a short walk from Cairns CBD.

Shopping in Cairns

Shopping Mall: Cairns Central has over 180 shops, a movie theater and a grocery market.
Shopping Mall: The Pier Cairns - Large waterfront shopping center and award winning restaurants.
Market: Cairns Night Markets open from 5pm daily. There are 70 plus markets for small souvenir, Food court, Massage stalls.
DFS: Duty Free Cairns / DFS Cairns is located in center of Cairns city.

Luxury restaurants are located in the waterfront area near the Pier Cairns shopping centre.
For seafood lovers, there is a seafood buffet at hotels and dinner cruise.
